cookies- intro

Hi

I'm Emily. In this creative making things project, I decide to make cookies because I haven't try to bake cookies by myself. The other reason is cookies are simple and convenient to bring and eat so I usually bring some in my bag. Also, I find out some coffee shops or people like to put or eat a piece of cookie with a cup of coffee or tea. I will make three kind of iterations. Firstly, I am going to start with the basic chocolate chip cookies. And, I will make oatmeal raisin cookies. The last one is almond lace cookies. Although baking cookies is tough for me to do, I will do my best and keep trying to come out with the most delicious cookies in the world.

  1. Hey Emily! Seems like a lot of our classmates are doing food projects. I'm really excited to see them...or eat them...haha. How many cookies are you planning to make? Are you going to consider decorating them? Will there be different sizes? There are different experiences in eating large-tiny cookies. You might consider experimenting with that and seeing what your own personal experience is like eating each of the different sizes.

Here's a link to a video tutorial for a chocolate chip recipe to get you started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieqeYrqgQn0

    Good luck to you! :)

  2. Emily,
This sounds great! I like that you are thinking of making something that you've never made before, but which plays a role in your daily life. Cookies are very convenient! Good luck with your baking.

  3. Cookies sound fantastic! And quite easy to do, if you're going simple! I don't know if you've already done this, or if your plans are going to change, but here is a post explaining different ways to change a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe: http://www.handletheheat.com/2013/07/the-ultimate-guide-to-chocolate-chip-cookies.html (remember to check parts two and three) and have you considered doing interesting things like vegan cookies, or flourless? http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/flourless-fudge-cookies-recipe This is a quite simple recipe that doesn't involve weird, expensive ingredients. I've also heard of meringue style cookies, where a flourless recipe just whisks egg whites until they are whipped in order to give the cookies more volume instead of them being very flat.

  5. Hi Emily! Do you know the children’s book If you Give a Mouse a Cookie? Well, I am like that when I eat cookie. Beware you are warned. =)

Actually I am a vegan, which means I don’t meat, fish, eggs, dairy and honey. I challenge you to make vegan cookies! Then you would really have to give me a cookie.

Baking without eggs and dairy is cheaper too! Here are some vegan cookie recipes: http://www.egglesscooking.com/eggless-baking-recipes/eggless-cookies/
